Abia State Government says the monthly sanitation exercise for the month of July will hold this Saturday, July 26th, 2025 across the state between the hours of 7:00 am and 10:00am.
The state government reminded Abians that they are to stay at home, clean up their surroundings and must work with nose masks while defaulters shall be arrested and prosecuted in line with the Abia State Basic Environmental Law.
A release signed on behalf of the Commissioner for Ministry of Environment, Mr Philemon Ogbonna by the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, Obioma Chidinma and made available to newsmen on Wednesday, says movement of people and vehicles during the period shall be restricted except those on essential duties who would be required to present on demand, valid identification or any authentic authorization for such exemption.
The release enjoined Executive Chairmen (Mayors) of the Local Government Councils , Traditional rulers,Town Union Leaders, Religious Leaders,Youth and Women Organizations in the State to monitor and sensitize their people on the importance of the exercise and to participate as well.
According to the release, all markets, motor parks, private and public transport companies and business premises are to remain closed on Friday July 25, 2025 between the hours of 7:00am and 9:00am to carry out their own clean-up exercise, adding that there will be tippers on Saturday to cart away refuse.
The release reminded the Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Corps, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps to endeavour to assemble at their usual place for onward deployment.
The statement reads: The general public is hereby informed that the Monthly Sanitation Exercise for the Month of July will be held on Saturday, July 26,2025 in Abia State between the hours of 7:00am and 10:00am.
“The Executive Chairmen (Mayors) of the Local Government Councils, Traditional rulers,Town Union Leaders, Religious Leaders,Youth and Women Organizations in the State are required to monitor and sensitize their people on the importance of the exercise and to participate as well .
“All markets, motor parks, private and public transport companies as well as business premises are to remain closed on Friday July 25, 2025 between the hours of 7:00am and 9:00am to carry out their own clean-up exercise.
There will be tippers on Saturday to cart away the refuse scooped out as usual.
“The Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Corps, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps are to assemble at their usual place of take-off for deployment.”
