The 2013 United Nations Mayor of Peace, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, has charged young boys and girls with literary skills to go ahead, present their thoughts and get sharpened by their mentors or those ahead of them.
Igbokwe opined that the likes of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and other literary icons who have excelled in writing novels, short stories, poem, and children’s books, started earlier in their youthful age, identified their talents and pursued it till they attained greatness.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Gubernatorial aspirant in Abia State in 2023, said Nigeria will be a better place if authorities at all levels begin to pay proper attention to the child’s development, emphasising that it has become more imperative to pay greater attention to those special skills or talents that children of nowadays are blessed with as such talents if sharpened, have the potentials of changing the fortunes of every family.
Mayor Igbokwe who spoke during the official presentation of a book titled “Flora, the Village Princess” written by Davina Chinenyenwa Chinomso, lauded the writer for already doing exploits at a very young age expressing optimism that with the way she has started, she will achieve greatness in the coming years.
He acknowledged that he missed out on the official presentation of the book earlier this year due to some exigencies, emphasizing the need for parents to always encourage their wards in making the right choices in life.
“I have always encouraged parents to always monitor and provide the necessary support to their children. These children God has given us, deserve special guidance, they are too young to start taking decisions on their own. I believe if we do our parts well, the sky will be their starting point.
“I also want to use this opportunity to encourage you, Miss Davina Chinenyenwa Chinomso, you have started well, to remain focused. I know this is just the beginning, you will have more books to your name if you remain focused. Remain studious and God will crown your efforts with more success.”
Mayor Igbokwe, while endorsing the book, “Flora, the Village Princess”, with his son, Master Reign Igbokwe, made cash donation to Davina Chinenyenwa Chinomso.
