The Governorship candidate of the Labour Party in the November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State, Dr. George Moghalu, has expressed shock over the killing of several residents in Ogboji community, Orumba South Local Government Area.
Recall that the victims were attacked during what was described as a peaceful meeting of non-indigenes.
In a statement, Chief Moghalu condemned the attack, describing it as a heartbreaking reflection of the worsening security situation in Anambra State.
He said the victims, many of whom were breadwinners and community leaders, were gunned down in cold blood for simply gathering in peace.
“I am devastated. My heart bleeds for the victims who are fathers, husbands, and young men gunned down while sitting together in brotherhood.
How did we get here?” Moghalu asked. “What has become of us as a people? When did life become so cheap that armed men can storm a peaceful gathering and open fire without a shred of mercy”, Dr Moghalu stated.
The Governorship hopeful called for urgent and sincere action from government authorities, warning that continued silence and inaction in the face of such brutality could tear the state apart.“We must all rise and say:
This is not the Anambra we should hand over to the next generation.”Moghalu demanded that those behind the attack be swiftly identified and brought to justice, adding that no community in Anambra should live in fear of violence.
“We cannot keep watching blood soak our land while we fold our arms. Let those responsible for this horror be hunted down. Let our people feel safe again.
We owe it to every soul lost,” he said.Dr. George Moghalu assured that a Labour Party-led administration under his leadership would prioritize the restoration of peace and community safety across the state.
“No one should die for being part of a community. No one should live in fear. We must heal this broken land, and by God’s grace, we will,” he said.
