Provide Timely Information to Avoid Shielding Criminals, CP Isa to LG Mayors in Abial

Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, has called on Local Government Mayors in the State to provide timely and credible information, avoid shielding criminal suspects, and work closely with youth leaders and landlords to ensure proper screening of prospective tenants before renting out property.

The CP also said the Mayors as Chief Security Officers of their localities, should ensure close collaboration with the Police through their respective Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and Area Commanders.

Isa who made the call at a meeting with the 17 Mayors of Abia State which was held in collaboration with the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Uzor Nwachukwu, revealed that the meeting is aimed at strengthening grassroots security co-ordination.

A release by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO Abia State Command, DSP Maureen Chinaka, said during the meeting, CP Isa expressed appreciation to the Mayors for meeting with him and acknowledged the support the Command has received so far from Governor Alex Otti in fighting crime and criminality in the state.

The CP also used the opportunity to reaffirm the Command’s support for the Mayors in their respective domains while emphasizing that security is a collective responsibility.

The Police helmsman in the State, encouraged the Mayors to trust and have confidence in the Police in order to work together to make Abia State a safe haven for all just as he reiterated the Command’s commitment to professionalism, integrity, and justice, maintaining that acts of misconduct and unprofessionalism by officers will not be tolerated.

“We are committed to professionalism, integrity, and justice. Acts of misconduct and unprofessionalism by officers will not be tolerated. I encourage you to trust and have confidence in the Police in order to work together to make Abia State a safe haven for all,” CP Isa concluded.
