The Deputy General Manager of ASEPA, Umuahia zone, says the agency would continue to collaborate with the Abia State Harmonised Task Force team (ASHTF) to ensure environmental sanity in the state.
Catechist Ambrose Jonah disclosed in his office in Umuahia that the Harmonised taskforce team will not leave any stone unturned to ensure proper monitoring of markets, streets, and roads in the metropolis.
He mandated them to apprehend offenders in line with the environmental laws of the state to serve as a deterrent to others, insisting that offenders would pay a particular fine.
Catechist Jonah wondered why people could form the habit of littering pure water sachets or throwing out banana piles from a moving vehicle or tricycle.
He recalled that some motorist who uses grasses as road signs to indicate vehicle breakdowns abandons it in the middle of the road, pointing out that ignorance is not an excuse.
Responding, the Head of Operations, Abia State Harmonised taskforce Umuahia zone, Ogechukwu Anozie thanked the ASEPA Deputy General Manager for his commitment to keeping Umuahia and its environs clean and healthy.
He promised that the task force team would hand over anyone caught violating the environmental laws to the police.
