The ruling Labour Party in Abia State has passed a vote of implicit confidence on the Senator Nenadi Usman led National Caretaker Committee of the party.
Briefing journalists in Umuahia on Tuesday after a State Executive Committee, SEC, meeting, the State Chairman of the party, Sir Emmanuel Otti said the Abia Labour Party has full confidence in the National Caretaker Committee and the National Leader of the party, Dr Alex Otti who is the only governor elected on the platform of Labour Party.
According to Sir Otti, the SEC commends the Supreme Court for what he described as a landmark judgement that sacked Julius Abure as the Chairman of the party.
He revealed that during the meeting, the leadership of the Labour party in Abia also announced series of activities to mark the second anniversary of the present administration in the state, led by Governor Alex Otti.
Sir Otti, said the State Executive Committee of the party after their meeting on Tuesday agreed to carry out a clean up exercise in Aba and Umuahia as well have a sensitization campaign on the importance of proper sanitation in the state.
Emma Otti stated that it would be capped by a mega “Thank You” rally to Governor Alex Otti for his developmental strides in the state, revealing that dates would be announced once the committee in charge comes up with details.
For the records, the State Executive Committee comprises the Governor, the Deputy Governor, the State Working Committee, the seventeen local government chairmen, local government secretaries, and all government appointees.
The State Executive Committee is the highest decision making body of the party in the state.
Southeastposts reports that this is their first meeting since after the Supreme Court judgement that annulled the chairmanship of Julius Abure.
Sir Otti said, “This is our first meeting since after the Supreme Court judgement. We looked at it that it is very imperative that this meeting is called for us to gives appraisal of ourselves with the declaration of the Supreme Court based on the case of Labour that was before the Supreme Court,” he said
“The case has been decided in favour of Nenadi Usman, Senator Darlington Nwokocha and INEC, these are three people involved in that case,” he explained.
“The Supreme Court in their wisdom saw that the tenure of Abure has expired since last year, they ruled in favour of the appellants and the people are happy and to show their solidarity to His Excellency and to look at the areas they can show support for all the good works he has been doing in Abia.”
“We are approaching May 29 and we will roll out programmes and activities to mark the second year in the office of Dr Alex Otti.”
“We are going to have an environmental sanitation exercise in two zones of Aba and Umuahia and there will be a sensitization campaign to let people know the importance of sanitation.”
“Look at the things the governor is doing, we want to have a thank you rally here in Umuahia as part of the activities.”
Correspondent reports that highpoint of the meeting was the presentation of a 54 seater coaster bus by the State Chairman of the party, Sir Emmanuel Otti to the State Executive Committee.
