Governor, Alex Otti of Abia State, has expressed shock over the disturbing news of the invasion and attack on a popular hospitality establishment in Umuahia, De Latinos Concept, on Sunday, which led to the destruction of property and injuries to innocent persons.
Saddened by the development, the governor has therefore directed the Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, to identify the perpetrators of the violence and bring them to justice.
In a statement signed by Ferdinand Ekeoma, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Governor Otti vowed that every individual involved in the attack would be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others planning to engage in similar acts in future.
Speaking while visiting the scene, Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu, commiserated with the management and staff of De Latinos on behalf of the state government.
Emetu reassured that the government would take all necessary steps to protect investors and their investments in the state, vowing to get to the root of the matter.
On his part, the State Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa who was part of the visit, expressed regret over the incident, which he described as avoidable, and disclosed that officers involved had been arrested and were being interrogated.
CP Isa stated that unpatriotic individuals would not be allowed to instil fear in innocent residents and business owners in the state.
Recall that on Sunday, some policemen, who allegedly invaded De Latinos on the invitation of a colleague, fired teargas, causing pandemonium that resulted in injuries to staff and customers of the entertainment outfit, while expensive music equipment was damaged in the chaos.
