Abia NUJ Leadership Visits CP, Pledges Continued Partnership with Police

The Commissioner of Police, Abia state Command, CP Danladi Isa, has said the media plays a veritable role in promoting transparency, public confidence and awareness.

CP Isa made the call at the Command Headquarters in Umuahia on Monday when he received in audience, the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Abia State Council led by the Chairman, Comrade Chidi Asonye.

The CP described the Police as servants of the people who need the trust and confidence of the society to serve them better, assuring of the Command’s commitment in serving the people of Abia state and pledged continued collaboration of the Command with the Journalists.

He maintained that the State Police Command under his watch is committed to sanitizing the Police Force in line with the policy thrust of the IGP Kayode Egbetokun and called on officers of the force to respect the civil populace.

Earlier, the Chairman of NUJ Abia State Council and the leader of the delegation, Comrade Chidi Asonye, said they were on a familiarization visit to the Police and to laud the CP and his team for the relative peace being witnessed in the State.

Comrade Asonye also revealed that the visit was to formally introduce the new leadership of NUJ, Abia state Chapter and foster a stronger partnership between the council and the police.

He also called for continued support and cordial working relationship with the Nigerian Police in the State, pledging continued partnership with the leadership of NUJ to ensure that security issues are given desired coverage.
