Ebonyi State Police Command has admitted that the President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council, Comr. Igboayaka Igboayaka, is in their custody 48 hours after he was arrested at the works layout in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
The Command stated that Igboayaka was arrested and taken to Ebonyi State.
A statement by the Command’s spokesperson, Joshua Ukandu, on Monday, said Igboayaka was arrested by officers of the command following a petition addressed to the state Commissioner of Police on alleged false information.
Ukandu added that the command is investigating the allegation and will charge him in court once they conclude the investigation.
He said, “The Ebonyi State Command is aware of the information circulating in the media alleging the abduction of the president of the Ohaneze Youth Council, Comr. Igboayaka Igboayaka, on February 8, 2025.
“To clarify, Comr. Igboayaka Igboayaka was arrested by officers from the command based on a petition submitted to the commissioner of police, which alleged he disseminated false information capable of truncating peace and destabilising communities in Ebonyi State.
He said the command is currently investigating these allegations, adding that once the investigation is concluded, he will be charged in court.
