Goods and property worth millions of naira were on Monday night destroyed by fire at a wholesale shop located at lhie Ndume Ibeku along lkot Ekpene Road Umuahia
When newsmen visited the scene of the incident, the owner of the shop, Mr. Chimechefulam Ukaegbu Michael, who could not explain the remote cause of the inferno, described it as a setback.
Mr Michael, who is a labour Party Chieftain wondered what may have caused the inferno, said he was in his house around 11 am when he received a message that his shop was on fire, saying that on getting there, all the goods, building, refrigerators, among other property, had been destroyed.
He revealed that all the electrical appliances were unplugged before the close of work, pointing out that despite the intervention of men of the state fire service, the impact of the inferno was much.
He therefore called on the Government and good-spirited individuals to come to his assistance to enable him start all over again.
