Abia State government has hinted that it will participate fully in the burial of two prominent sons of Igbo land, late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and late Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, first civilian governor of Abia State.
Recall that the duo passed on this year and will be buried in November 2024. While lwuanyanwu will be buried on November 2 at his hometown Atta in Ikeduru LGA of Imo State, Onu will be buried on November 8, 2024 at his country home Uburu in Ohaozara LGA of Ebonyi State.
Speaking on the development, the Abia State Commissioner for Information, said the two sons of Igbo land deserve to be accorded great respect and honour for their immense contributions to Ndigbo as well as their fatherland.
According to the Commissioner, Abia State Government will hold an interdenominational service in honour of Onu on 7th of November 2024 at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia.
