As the Local government election in Imo draws near, Youths of Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State have insisted that it is the turn of the Umunwoha political bloc to produce the next chairman of their local government council.
This formed the resolution of the Owerri West indigenous youths during their emergency meeting held in Owerri on Saturday, August 17, 2024.
Speaking to newsmen after the meeting, the spokesman of the group, Chibueze Opera, maintained that it was high time the stakeholder of Owerri West defended the existing zoning arrangement of elective positions among the three political blocs of Ochie, Arah and Umunwoha, to ensure justice, equity and fairness.
Opera described the youth as the ‘life wire’ of every nation, calling on stakeholders of Owerri West Local Government Area to key into their resolution, as the youths of Owerri West are ready to resist injustice by ensuring that Umunwoha produces the next chairman in the September 21, 2024, local government polls in the state.
ln his words, “Owerri West people should emulate Governor Hope Uzodimma, who believes in doing things right. Many of us are ‘card-carrying’ members of the All Progressives Congress.
“We are happy with our amiable governor because of his leadership sagacity for which we are optimistic that he must look inwards and consider our yearnings.”
