Traditional Rulers under the auspices of Royal Renaissance Group, an Integrity group, has moved to reform the traditional institution, aimed at restoring it’s lost glory.
The group said it formed the front ensuing from misconduct and low carriage exhibited by some royal fathers, as a result of the decline in the standard of the traditional institution, adding that it was also formed to pursue the vision of reformation of the required standards and appropriate behaviors in the traditional institution.
After its monthly meeting hosted by the Secretary of the group and Traditional Ruler of Eziama/Mgbaja Autonomous Community in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State, Eze Chiabuotu Emelike, the group restated it’s commitment to champion a new course in the kingship institution of Abia State.
Speaking with newsmen, the Chairman of the Royal Renaissance Group, Eze Bobby Aguocha, represented by his Secretary, Eze Chiabuotu Emelike, said the group was formed in 2022, with the aim of changing the trajectory of the traditional institution in the State as well as revitalize and revamp the system.
He said the traditional institution in Abia State has been taken over by royal fathers with questionable characters and the group is geared to correct the wrong by showcasing the acceptable moral conduct befitting of a traditional head.
He added that the body is not a parallel body to the Traditional Rulers Council, but a respectable association of like minds who are championing change in the larger traditional council and also setting some kind of standard by their conduct, carriage among others.
Eze Aguocha frowned at the unacceptable behaviours of some monarchs especially in their public conduct, speech and general disposition which have brought suspicion to the quality of Ezes.
The Royal Father added that their membership cuts across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state, with a campaign to raise the ethical behavior of Ezes in Abia State.
Eze Aguocha also charged community leaders to raise the bars for the selection of traditional rulers that will represent their communities well and as well, project good image of the community.
The Monarch restated that the association would do a lot of good to the traditional system, apart from repositioning and lifting up it’s standards, it would help to change the behaviours of other monarchs who abridge the set standard.
