As tension heightens, the people of Umuezeoka Autonomous Community of Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State have called on Governor Francis Nwifuru, to intervene in the kingship tussle tearing the community apart.
Sources who spoke to newsmen, pointed out that the lingering kingship tussle was causing uproar, disaffection and division among members of the community.
It was learnt that the stool usually rotates between the three kindred that make up the community, namely Umugo, Umuenyi, and Umuigboke.
Multiple sources attested that it was the turn of Umuenyi kindred and that the elders and the youths unanimously micro-zoned it to Umugboloke’s family unit, in order to make the entire process hitch-free.
Meanwhile , after a meeting on Monday, which took place at Nworie-Ezzauwho, instead of Ngamb Enirina, the venue where issues bothering on kingship matters are usually discussed, a section of the members of Umuezeoka Autonomous Community staged a walkout, to protest their dissatisfaction and unacceptably of the entire process.
Addressing journalists, a stakeholder of Umuezeoka Autonomous Community of Ezza North LGA and an All Progressives Congress, APC, Chieftain, Dr. Okulegu Bethran Enyim explained that they decided to stage a walkout from the meeting, in order to avoid any form of crisis and social instability in the area.
He accused the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Mr Jude Okpor, of doing everything possible to install the next king of the Community, without following the Constitution, customs and traditions.
They, however, appealed to the Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru who believes in integrity, dignity and the right thing being done to intervene on the situation.
