The Coalition of South-East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, the apex sociopolitical youth group in the South-East geopolitical zone has said the #IgboMustGo campaign’ by unscrupulous persons is reckless, wicked and divisive.
In a statement issued to newsmen on Friday by the President General of COSEYL Comrade Goodluck Ibem, he said the call is coming from those whose aims and objectives is to divide the nation along ethnic lines.
COSEYL said, “it is very unfortunate that persons with criminal intent and purpose whose enterprise and stock in trade is to cause trouble and disaffection among Nigerians where non-existent are at it again to destroy our nation”.
Ibem added that such an estranging campaign is not only schismatic but also endangers the unity, peace and security of Nigeria as a nation.
He said: “It is enormously disturbing and constitutionally irreconcilable to the principles of unity, tolerance and coexistence that define our nation. Such campaign is not only alienating but also jeopardizes our peace and security, as our Constitution ensures every citizen the right to live and work freely in any part of the country”.
COSEYL said the experiences from other countries has shown them the repercussions of allowing bitterness, odium, loathing and bigotry to strife, adding that the authorities must learn from what happened in other countries and act accordingly.
COSEYL called on President Tinubu, Governor Sanwu-olu and other South West Governors to quickly arrest and prosecute all those involved in this wicked and reckless call aimed at putting the nation on a keg of gunpowder just as they demanded that the law as imperative should take its full course on those involved to serve as deterrents to others who might want to follow such path in future.
